Maximizing Efficiency with Non-Invasive Ultrasonic Flow Measurement
At Keco Engineered Controls, we work constantly to deliver innovative instrumentation and control solutions to meet the increasing demands of industrial companies. Our commitment to innovation is built on decades of experience measuring gas, fluid, and steam flows, providing products that combine reliability, accuracy, efficiency and safety.

One of our state-of-the-art products, the FLEXIM line of FLUXUS Clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeters, is a top choice for companies needing highly accurate, non-invasive flow measurement technology. Built for long life and accuracy, FLEXIM’s FLUXUS meters allow gas, liquid, and steam media to flow without the intrusion of inside the pipe flow sensors. Flow in pipe sizes from 0.23 to 314.96 inches in diameter can be measured, and the patented “Waveinjector” transducer mounting device allows for temperatures from -58 to 1166 degreesF.
Measuring from the outside of the pipe, or the safe side, also means the measuring sensors, called transducers, are not subject to wear by the media inside the pipe. In addition, eliminating the risk of leakage further reduces downtime and optimizes operational efficiency and safety.
Ultrasonic Flow Measurement for Demanding Gas Flow Applications

For gas flows FLEXIM’s FLUXUS G gas flowmeter series is the best way to measure gas especially when it poses a hazard. Chemically aggressive, explosive, or toxic gases are best kept inside the pipe without intrusions for sensors. As an example, FLUXUS G meters are widely used to measure the flow of natural gas from production sites to pipelines to ultimate users.
Other typical measurements are ammonia gas and high pressure gases like ethylene, hydrogen chloride and hydrogen where FLEXIM has a long history of safe non-invasive flow measurement. With FLEXIM’s new sophisticated “Natural Gas Engine” technology FLUXUS G flowmeters are even able to determine the standard volume flow rate of gases with varying compositions.
With medical, pharmaceutical, and semiconductor operations, the need to measure ultra-pure gas flows is critical for their everyday operation. For them the FLUXUS G is the obvious choice for measuring gas flow because the gas is not subject to contamination or leakage caused by installing flow sensors into the pipe.
As a result, accurate and reliable ultra-pure gas flow measurement is possible which helps ensure safety, compliance, and efficiency.
A very important additional consideration is that gas leaks are often not visible or loud enough to be heard in noisy operations. Each FLUXUS meter installed is one less potential leak source for facilities requiring gas flow measurement.
Ultrasonic Flow Measurement for Demanding Liquid Flow Applications

FLEXIM’s FLUXUS F series of liquid flow meters provide the significant advantage of using sensors that are not subject to wear and tear by the aggressive liquid or slurry media in pipes in operations like power plants, chemical plants, and oil and gas refineries. Additionally, for media that does have particulate or other entrained substances, transducers mounted on the outside of the pipe cannot cause particulate buildup or a clogged pipe that can result from that buildup over time.

The FLUXUS F series has also become a preferred flowmeter for more simple tasks like measuring thermal energy water flows in cities and towns with district heating and automated building cooling and heating systems. The transducers for the FLUXUS WD water measurement series of meters are specially designed for the water industry, providing an IP68 protection rating. These transducers can also be operated while being permanently submerged.
Ultrasonic Flow Measurement for Selected Steam Flow Applications

FLEXIM’s FLUXUS G ST-LT is the ultrasonic flowmeter series for measurement of saturated steam at temperatures up to 356 degrees F. These meters measure flow using the transit-time difference principle which enables these meters to provide an excellent turndown so they can measure even small steam flows.

The FLUXUS G ST-LTis the world’s only portable steam flowmeter. It can also measure gases, liquids, compressed air, and heat, so it is widely used by plant engineers, technicians, and maintenance departments in their daily operations.
The FLUXUS G ST-HT flowmeter is designed for high temperature steam measurement. It uses the cross-correlation principle to measure flow with transducers that provide non-invasive steam measurement for temperatures up to 1166 degrees F.
Advanced Meter Verification [AMV]

FLEXIM AMV software provides you with the ability to check your FLUXUS measurement system performance at the measurement point without process interruption. Continuous data acquisition and permanent storage of diagnostic values by the transmitter enable you to compare todays diagnostic data to an original “as new” reference state stored in the transmitter.
This comparison can verify that the flowmeter system is operating properly or that measurement quality is deteriorating and needs to be corrected. AMV trend analysis provides predictive planning for meter maintenance to return the flowmeter system to its proper condition.
