At KECO Engineered Controls, our flow experts specialize by providing you with flow meters for all types of gas, liquid, and steam in your systems.
One of the most popular types of meters used in many applications in the oil and gas industry is the Coriolis meter.
Specifically the Micro Motion Coriolis Meter works on proven measurement technology that is accurate, dependable, and can operate in a wide variety of different conditions. The meters are easy to install and require very little maintenance, making them an ideal choice for mass flow metering especially where flow and density measurements are required.
The Coriolis Effect
Every Micro Motion Coriolis Meter uses the same measurement principle which has its roots in motion mechanics that include rules about how a liquid or gas will behave under specific operating conditions.
With the Coriolis effect, the meter induces a vibration in two flow tubes. The fluid in the tubes will increase or decrease the frequency as the flow rate changes.
Mass Flow and Density Measurement
The change in the tubes vibration frequency is measured by pickoffs along the surface of the tubes. At zero flow the two tubes vibrate in phase with each other. As flow is introduced, the Coriolis forces cause the tubes to twist resulting in changes in frequency, phase shift, and amplitude of the vibrating flow tubes. The changes measured represent the mass flow rate and density of the fluid.
