Published on 10 24, 2017 in Category: GENERAL
With all the different options for flow meters in the marketplace, it can be difficult to choose the ideal type of flow meter for any given application. At KECO Engineered Controls, we combine our expertise with our experience to help you reduce your choices to only those meters that are will work effectively for your specific application.
One option to consider for trouble-free, versatile flow measurement for gas, liquid, or steam is the Rosemount Vortex Flow Meter. This a dependable, rugged meter that offers several important features that make it an excellent choice in applications requiring wide flow ranges (100:1 turndown) and high accuracy (+/-0.5 to 1.0%).
The Design
The design of the Rosemount Vortex Flow Meter eliminates the need to shut down the system for flow sensor and temperature sensor repair or replacement. Unlike most vortex meters, the Rosemount Vortex Flow Meter sensors are isolated from the body of the meter, so there is no need to break the process seals during the inspection, repair or replacement of the sensors.
Additionally, the meter is designed without any gaskets. With this design, leak points that are problematic with other vortex meter designs are simply eliminated. Also the Rosemount Vortex Flow Meter has no moving parts. This greatly extends the lifecycle of the meter while also limiting maintenance and repair requirements.
The Perks
While it goes without saying that Rosemount Vortex Flow Meter models have the Rosemount reputation behind them, the 8800D series of meters can be used for liquid, gas, and steam with very high pressure, temperature, and flow rates while maintaining high levels of accuracy.
The Rosemount Vortex Flow Meter comes fully tested and configured from the factory. A variety of options for wetted material is available in the meter such as CF-3M cast stainless steel, carbon steel, low carbon steel, and nickel alloy. This allows customization of the meter to meet specific process design requirements. A wide variety of process connections are available including flanges from ASME Class 150 through 1500, weld-end, and wafer style to fit between flanges.
The added benefits of these flow meters include a top temperature range for operation from minus three hundred and thirty to up to eight hundred and forty-two degrees Fahrenheit. Vibration immunity is also provided by a mass balanced flow sensor, as well as with adaptive digital signal processing for increased filtering and measurement accuracy.
