Magnetic Flow Meters for Challenging Conditions
A major challenge in chemical, food and beverage processing plants, power plants, and waste treatment plants, is accurately accounting for waste water discharged from the facility. ABB Flow Meters
The ABB Flow Meters Water Master is available in sizes from 3/8” to 96”. They are designed specifically for use in the water and wastewater industries. Their rugged and robust construction means the standard sensors are inherently submersible (IP 68, NEMA 6P). This makes them suitable for installation in chambers and pits that are susceptible to flooding.
A more unique feature is that sizes 1.5” to 96” are buriable. Just excavate to the underground pipe, fit the sensor to the pipe, run the cable back to the transmitter, backfill the hole, then provide power to the meter. The “Fit and Flow” configuration sequence in the ABB Flow Meters then automatically sends all calibration factors, meter size, serial numbers, and customer site specific settings to the transmitter. As a result, setup is quick, easy, and error free.
After installation, the ABB Flow Meters Water Master diagnostic functions monitor both its own operability and the process. Limit values can be set at the meter. When these limits are exceeded, an alarm is tripped. If an error occurs, a diagnostic help text appears on the display to simplify trouble shooting. From installation, to configuration, to startup, to operation, the ABB Flow Meters Water Master enables you to begin accurately measuring waste water and other flows quickly and easily compared to most other flow meters.
The Rosemount Magnetic Flow Meter with the Rosemount 8732 Transmitter
The Rosemount Magnetic Flow Meter with the Rosemount 8732 transmitter is ideal when an integrally mounted transmitter is needed for installation in hazardous areas or in other difficult conditions. The Rosemount 8732 transmitter is built in an explosion proof housing with an optical switch for local operator interface. As a result the meter configuration and diagnostic communications can be accessed through the protective glass in front of the transmitter display. The protective covers do not need to be removed to view and change the configuration. A password function insures the configuration is secure.
The most unique feature in the Rosemount 8732 transmitter is the Calibration Verification. When federal, state, or local regulators require that the meter calibration be verified on an annual or other basis, the 8714i in situ meter diagnostic compares the existing flow sensor and transmitter values to the original (new) signature values. If the values are within the user set parameters, for example +/- 1%, the Rosemount Magnetic Flow Meter and the Rosemount 8732 transmitter are certified to be within specifications. A meter Verification Report is available to submit to any regulatory agency.
In addition to the Calibration Verification, the Rosemount Magnetic Flow Meter with the Rosemount 8732 transmitter provides other diagnostics with messages such as Empty Pipe, Coil Fault, Transmitter Fault, High Process Noise, and Grounding / Wiring fault. These messages together with the rugged construction of the Rosemount 8732 transmitter help to insure your flow measurement is accurate and is certified to meet regulatory requirements.
